As a photographer, one is always aiming for technical perfection. Perfect lighting. Perfect focus. Perfect composition. Perfect exposure. We all want that perfect photo and we often click hundreds of times during a shoot and may only find that ONE image that just nails it.

I don’t shoot what it looks like. I shoot what it feels like.

Sometimes the most perfect image is missing pieces.  The focus is just a tad soft.  The lighting is not ideal.  The dog’s paw or tail is cut off. Sometimes the most perfect image simply just gives you the “feels”. It draws you in, allowing you to be part of the story.  It conveys what we cannot put into words.

When I looked for a hand, you gave me your paw.

Many dogs may come and go in our lives.  They will ALL bring us joy and love.  There will be moments of happiness and of great sadness.  There will be morning snuggles, evening walks, games of fetch, lots of dog hair and slobbery kisses, wet noses, stinky paws and tears of joy and pain.  We will not trade any of these moments because they are all part of the story. If you are a truly lucky and blessed dog parent, you will know a little something about a #SOULDOG.

In rescuing animals, I lost my mind but found my soul.

I struggled in deciding which amazing dog to showcase in my first blog post ever.  There were many from which to choose but I circled back to Monkey Love over and over and over again.  There was no deeper bond than between Monkey and Momma.  She was a social media celebrity and a gentle old soul that enjoyed the simple things in life…..basking in the sunshine at mom’s old farmhouse and loving her humans.  I was lucky enough to know this beautiful gal in the last of her years and am often brought to tears as I look back over her images frequently.  No matter how much time these souls give to us, it will never be enough.

Monkey Love will fur~ever live in the hearts of those who were blessed enough to share in her world.

Every once in a while a dog enters your life and changes everything.

Thank you Miss Monkey.
